Residential Life at VMA

At VMA, community is at the heart of our boarding program. We are committed to foster students' sense of collectivity s and get them to engage in healthy living. Students in our boarding program will learn to share with one another, develop independent living practices, contribute their services to their community and exercise their leadership. Through the support and guidance of their house parents, students will have a sense of security and belonging, and develop values that will build their moral character. It is through this community that we strengthen each child’s Chinese identity and prepare them to be confident young citizens who can find their own success in the world alongside their peers.

VMA students mainly come from different parts of China. For those who have left home for the first time, it might be not easy to adjust to a new environment that is comprised of students of various geographical and socio-economic backgrounds. However, this small yet diverse community will help students to settle down in this new environment, encourage them to develop their own ideas, character and opinions, and guide them to understand and embrace the differences among students. In this sense, our boarding program is what we envision our boarding program to be – an extension of what VMA has to offer student’s in their daily lives at Dameisha.
